Our Platform

Identify. Identifying quality alternative investments is an ongoing process for us.  We are continually adding to our existing database of "deal flow providers".  We look for alternative investment opportunities that have a winning combination of people, performance and potential.  We focus mostly on the small-to-mid range of investment sizes. The large investment sizes typically have much more competition for them from the institutions. Due to this competition, it is more difficult to find investments with strong fundamental value where the investor can get a solid return without excess leverage. Investments in the small-to-mid size range are typically too small for the institutional players to benefit from. This allows knowledgeable investors to take advantage of this market inefficiency. After we identify a certain investment which fits our strict criteria, we move the investment to the evaluation stage.

Evaluate. We evaluate each opportunity in comparison to the investments we already have in our platform as well as the needs of our existing clients. If the investment meets our strict criteria, we will then move forward with a more detailed evaluation. Our detailed evaluation is quite thorough for each investment. We consider factors such as: reviewing the prior financials and pro formas (including an independent audit of past financial records), an independent valuation of the asset, comparing ratios and risks from similar assets, extensive background checks on the principals, and review of offering materials/regulatory filings. Once this evaluation is complete, the investment committee will decide whether to accept the specific investment to our platform.

Monitor. We monitor and review all of the alternative investments which are on our platform. We do continuous follow up and due diligence on these investments. Part of this ongoing due diligence entails: ongoing communication with investment managers or Principles, analysis of performance, changes in management strategy, as well as reviewing the many components of the investment to ensure that the investment is performing as we originally expected.

   If any issues arise during our ongoing monitoring process, appropriate corrective actions are initiated by the Investment Committee

Have an Alternative Investment Identified?

We have clients who already have a specific investment in mind for their Self Directed IRA. We work with them to purchase and structure it in the appropriate way. We will also advise them if we feel it is not an appropriate investment for their portfolio, or if it is not in their best interest to purchase it. Our risk management team provides our clients with fundamental analysis of their investments as well as assisting them with the proper structuring and how to avoid common mistakes when working with non-traditional assets in a Self Directed IRA.
